Oriental Rug Cleaning
Oriental rug cleaning sure is a lot of fun. We get to see so many different styles. Hundreds of different designs and colors or the way they are built. We have seen some amazing and beautiful rugs, and we have cleaned them all! But why should so many of our clients trust us with these treasures? So glad you asked! It has something to do with how thorough our washing process is.
Clean in Home?
Many a client has asked us this question when scheduling, so lets cover it first. The easy answer is no. If you want the best possible cleaning for your rug, it should be done at our facility. That being said, we understand that not all rugs are handmade pieces of art and many came from a department store for a couple hundred dollars. The harder answer is yes, if it passes a few tests. Failing a test, even if it is a low value rug, will mean it must be cleaned in our facility.
Tests?
Basically we are concerned with a how much damage can occur to the piece if cleaned in your home. We believe that all rugs suffer some damage through cleaning if done in the home. The question becomes how visible will the damage be. Will it be an issue of structural, something that shortens the life of the piece without appearing to damage the piece? Something like this would be acceptable for a rug from a department store, not so much for a handed down heirloom. Or are we looking at possible shrinkage or color damage? That would not be acceptable, regardless of rug quality.
Preserve
With our in shop washing you can expect us to care for your rug as if it were our own. Along with this possessiveness comes our need to help you preserve the piece for as long as possible. We can help you do this through helpful maintenance tips and reminders (rotate your rugs, people!) or by setting you up with a pad cut to fit your area rug. These pads will absorb some of the damage caused through everyday use.Another way we like to help lengthen the life of your rug is to catch damage caused through use or accidents and offer ways to repair it. We can offer simple repairs that will keep the damage from spreading or we can help you get a complete reweave from a severely damaged section. How much really depends on how much you want to spend.
